LabSoft's New CoumiChek Feature
Helps Seniors Tampa, FL (January 02, 2002) – Tampa-based LabSoft, Inc. announced today that the company has added a new feature to its proprietary laboratory information system (LIS), designed to help lab technicians improve patient care.
LabSoft’s
CoumiChek™
is a reminder system that alerts laboratory staff if warfarin-prescribed
patients have not come in for a scheduled appointment.
Warfarin, or the brand name, Coumadin®
is
the oral anticoagulant most frequently used in older patients to prevent harmful
blood clots from forming, but those taking it need regular testing.
“Because warfarin is basically a blood thinner, patients who are taking it require close monitoring to avoid bleeding complications,” commented Gary Yancich, President of LabSoft, Inc. “The laboratories we work with are very concerned about the well-being of their patients. CoumiChek™ is just one more way we can help them save lives by signaling a missed appointment, which can prove critical for this targeted group of individuals.”
Founded
in 1992, LabSoft, Inc. provides advanced laboratory information systems and
support programs to hospitals, reference labs and physician offices located
throughout the United States. The company’s three primary product lines –
LabNet LIS, EZLink LIS and Beethoven II – are Windows-based applications that
automate information-related functions. Headquartered
in Tampa, Florida, LabSoft also operates an office in the Denver, Colorado
region.
